Re-dating basically means re-dating your work's publication date manually to a different date from the actual date you posted the work (or save your draft) in AO3.
Reason why most exchanges highly encourages re-dating your works is due to one reason.
As fellow AO3 users, we are familiar with searching for other fans' works to enjoy by searching the works using the ship tags (i.e. Mitsurugi Reiji | Miles Edgeworth/Naruhodou Ryuuichi | Phoenix Wright) right? Just like the AO3 page below
However, as you also realised, these works are sorted and displayed based on the date they are posted - which is also the publication date of the works.
Therefore, in order to ensure that our revealed works from unrevealed collections are being put up at the top of the AO3 list/page of works for all to quickly see, creators re-dates all revealed works on the date of the exchange work reveals date, so that other fans will not miss their amazing works! 🗣🗣
And since it's MitsuNaru day, we're all writing for MitsuNaru day, you would want your works to come out at the top of the list for MitsuNaru day, right?? 💁♀️
How to do re-dating? 🤓
The method to do re-dating is rather simple!
All you nee to do is to go to your work, Edit the work, and set a different publication date under 'Associations'!

Click on 'Post' once you're done! 🤗
And with that, your work should successfully come out at the top of the AO3 list for the relationship tag of our favourite gay lawyers!!! ❤️️💙
